How We Became Wanderers

It all started with a terrible map and an even worse sense of direction. What was supposed to be a simple weekend getaway turned into our first real adventure when we missed our exit, stumbled upon a hidden waterfall, and realized we’d rather be lost in beautiful places than found in boring ones. That spontaneous detour sparked something we didn’t know we were missing the thrill of discovery, the joy of unexpected encounters, and the addictive rush of waking up somewhere new. Fast forward a few years, countless wrong turns, and dozens of passport stamps later, here we are: professional wanderers who still get butterflies before every trip and believe the best stories happen when you throw the itinerary out the window. We’ve learned that home isn’t a place, it’s the feeling you get when you’re brave enough to explore the world with your favorite person by your side.

Your post about getting lost in Kyoto’s backstreets completely changed how I approach travel! I used to stick to guidebooks religiously, but now I leave room for spontaneous discoveries. Just booked my trip to Japan!

I’ve been following your blog for two years, and you guys have the best hidden gem recommendations. That little café in Prague you mentioned? Pure magic. My husband and I spent hours there just watching the world go by.

Your honest take on travel mishaps is so refreshing! Reading about your missed flight in Bangkok that led to an amazing extra day exploring made me realize that ‘disasters’ can become the best parts of any trip.
